French luxury house Longchamp was founded in Paris (1948) by Jean Cassegrain as a manufacturer of leather-covered items for smokers during World War II. The brand has been run as a family business ever since––expanding its production considerably over time to offer luggage, small leather goods, handbags, lifestyle goods and RTW––with Sophie Delafontaine as Artistic Director. In 1993, Longchamp’s President Philippe Cassegrain designed the brand’s signature product: "Le Pliage," a functional and chic, foldable nylon tote with a leather flap and leather handles. To this day, Longchamp prides itself on its long-standing family heritage, craftsmanship, and creative innovation. Working with the best European tanneries and offering new variations of colors and leathers each season, Longchamp naturally lends itself to artistic collaborations with lively characters such as Jeremy Scott, Thomas Heatherwick, Kate Moss, Mary Katrantzou, and a host of other names.
